What to look out for; is your business a target?

I discovered this CyberPolicy article, that asks the question: What Type of Organizations Do Hackers Target the Most? Like any other form of shady activity, there is a reason hackers hack. Most every time, especially on a large scale of newsworthy hacking situations, it is to obtain some sort of sensitive data. This is the first major flag CyberPolicy points out, that hackers commonly target businesses that deal with sensitive info. While such info may not necessarily be held by the company in question, CyberPolicy mentions addressing the “bigger picture” of a businesses online footprint, what it looks like for their customers (i.e, what, where, and how much of the internet outside of the company are their customers exposed to), and how businesses may take steps to strengthen their cybersecurity to remain off of any hacker’s radar.

Along with discussing a number of example past hacking situations, CyberPolicy chimes in on the importance of a companies’ cybersecurity policy.

Perhaps the most valuable tidbit of information on this page, CyberPolicy discusses talks over how small and medium sized business are as every bit of as at risk too, it’s not just the big guys! Stating a scary statistic:

“Perhaps the scariest statistic out there reveals that roughly half of all small business have been hit by a cyberattack”
